The Korea Meteorological Industry Promotion Agency (KMIPA) began offering a weather-related foreign language call service on March 4, 2013. Foreign tourists and residents in Korea can simply call +82-131 (abroad) or 131 (in Korea) to access weather information in English and Chinese.
The 131 foreign language weather service is free and operates from 9:00-18:00 on weekdays. It offers Korea-related information on the current weather, weather forecasts and a outdoor activities index, in addition to current weather for major cities around the world. Dial 131 and press 9, then press 1 (for English) or 2 (for Chinese) to speak with a representative.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has provided information on its website (www.kma.go.kr) in English, Japanese, and Chinese since 1996, and has offered foreign language mobile web services in English since 2011, and in Chinese and Japanese since 2012. KMIPA plans to gradually expand its 131 Foreign Language Weather Service.
